About Potter, Parties and Links

Hello there, loyal followers of my Queen of the World-campaign. How are all of you? Personally, I have been great. I purchased the new Harry Potter book, the Deathly Hallows yesterday and finished reading it at once. Three wave hurray for moi, eh? If you would like to read my review of the book, go pay a visit to The Librarian, my newly built book review website.

After spending countless hours enjoying the pleasant company of young (and handsome!) Harry Potter and that evil moron called Lord Voldemort, I decided to go out last night and spend some time with my sweet heart. It was great: we haven’t argued since we nearly broke up and that is, after all, quite amazing. I suppose we have learned that no matter how much we differ, we still love each other deeply and in the end, that’s all that matters.

On another note, if anyone wants to exchange links with my weblog, I would be uber-thrilled. You can leave me a mail if you want (click here) or wait until I finally manage to set up my contact form. Don’t worry though, there are really no rules for link exchanges with my website. As long as you own a weblog or personal website that does not talk about porn all the time, I’m completely happy. So just mail me and lets exchange links! :D

Tonight, it’s the party of my local KLJ, named the Kriekenacht. I have to help serving drinks to people and such; I’m not really too up for it. I prefer just going to a party, but well it has to be done, not? I don’t know how long I’m allowed to stay, but if I’m going with my cousin it’ll be around 3.30. I for one would rather go with my boyfriend, since then it could be like four o’clock or something but the git decided he does not want to drive there, since he doesn’t trust it when his car is parced there. Typical. Boys, eh?

Your almighty Lordette of All Things Good and Evil greets you.

Website Review: DClickads.com

Lately, I have been browsing the world wide web in search of some advertising programmes or ways for publishers (aka webmasters/blog-owners) to earn some cash online. Whilst surfing the net, I came across some valuable sources telling me about how to earn money online, what websites and advertisers I can trust and those I cannot trust. Reading through so many blogs that are talking completely about earning cash, seriously made me consider putting a cash-blog, as one could call it, up too. But even though so, I would like to hear your opinion on cash-blogs, or websites telling others how to earn cash. Although it would probably be quite handy for me to keep track of my (relativily small) income, I am not yet sure if there are other advantages linked to it and if one would actually care reading such a thing. Opinions are welcome.

Now, when looking through advertising sites, I came across DClickads.com. This website seems nice and handy. Apparenlty, according to this page, publishers can choose how much they charge for ads themselves, which is always interesting since I still believe text link ads does not nearly charge enough for ad placement on websites. There are even more possibilities of earning money as a webmaster using DClickAds.com.

How Webmasters Earn Income

Dclickads is an advertising network where publishers list their advertising space/inventory called Ad Zones for sale in the system. You earn income and revenue based on the amount you charge for ad placement by week, month, or ads pay per click intervals. You decicide the amount and interval.

Dclickads handles all of the payment processing between buyer(advertiser) and seller(webmaster). Each month an advertising revenue earnings check is mailed to you based on your advertisement website earnings. Advertisement ads placed by the system are direct links to the advertiser utilizing proprietary DirectLink technology for maximum optimization of the campaign.

Basically, in simpler terms (since this actually seems quite hard to understand, even to me) publishers can choose between text link ads or banner ads or even embedded ads to generate an income. We can also choose whether or not we want to charge money for ads based on a weekly base or a monthly base or if we want pay per click ads. That’s a lot more freedom than a lot of the other advertising systems I have ran into on the web, offer. It’s more like having our online business than letting everything in the hands of others, and we manage ourselves how much money we want to earn.

The system behind it is simple: a webmaster decides a certain area of his website (named Ad Zone) will be used for advertising purposes. A 25% of every ad place sold in this zone will be generated to DClickAds.com, which is a reasonable amount since in certain other advertising businesses companies charge at least 50%. An other good thing is publishers get to decide whether they want pay per click ads or impression ads (e.g. 1000 impressions => money) which can come in quite handy, especially for large traffic websites which may earn more money using impressions because nowadays people hardly click on ads. It’s the amazing amount of freedom a publisher has that is really interesting about Dclickads.

There is ofcourse one downside regarding this fairytale come true. Payment is only paid out thirty days after the advertisement has come to an end. Surely, this might be interesting for some, but I for one prefer a monthly pay out rather than having to wait another month before actually getting my money, but I can understand some people might be up for this.

There is also some confusement about how a webmaster will get paid. On this page, it clearly states payment is only made by check (another downside for me, since I cannot accept checks and swore my Mom only to use paypal for online selling/earning issues) but on the FAQ page it says (unless I am suddenly incapable of reading) one needs a Paypal account to get paid. This confuses me, and I hope the Dclickads team sorts it out soon, since I’m sure it will confuse a lot of other people too: how will we get paid now, using Paypal or by check? Or both, perhaps?

All in all, I like this website. The design is nice and clean, which gives it a semi-professional look and makes even the most newbieic amongst us comfortable when browsing. On the other hand, their FAQ page could be clearer, especially regarding their paying methods (which is after all, very important) and to me personally, paying people a month later is a bit too late. But I can see some people would like the freedom of being able to choose themselves how they want ads displayed, how much they want to charge, etc.

Since Dclickads is a relatively new site, there are not many other reviews about it yet and I have not yet heard anyone telling how much they have earned using the website, which holds me back a little too. But to anyone out there, I would say try it, because you cannot really know whether it will be good or not unless you try it. And one month won’t really hurt you now, will it?

Harry Potter rocks my socks

Yesterday, I went to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with one of my best friends, Sarah. We had a great time. Like it wasn’t hard enough to get in Bruges using nothing but a bus (the connection is really bad) we nearly got lost on our way to the Kinepolis theatre too. When we finally arrived at the place of terror, we had already spent about two hours in the rain. And what do you know, when we entered the theatre (relieved, happy, tired, soaking wet) and we finally began thinking it could start raining asteroids for all we cared, the rain stopped. Talk about some big man up there fooling around with us, eh?

Anyway, we forgot about that as soon as we began watching the film. May I mention we had ordered about a kilogram of popcorn and by the time the film actually started playing, had already finished the entire bucket? I would surprised if I have not gained at least five kilogram from going to that film. To be honest, I found Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix one of the most wonderful movies in the Harry Potter series. It’s better than Goblet of Fire and the actors are far better than they were in the beginning of the series. Perhaps the special effects also have something to do with the greatness of the film: they’re so good one could almost imagine them to be real.

The scene in which Sirius dies was terribly underacted though. Hell, that episode lasted probably a second, not enough to make me start crying although I did when I read the fifth book. It’s like they want to keep the action going but forget to focus on the most important thing: the painful and tragic death of Harry’s godfather. The book is definately better than the film, but I would advise every Harry Potter fan to go view the film anyway.

My boyfriend and I thought seriously about breaking up on Sundays. It was mostly his decision, but I agreed slightly with him since all we do lately is fight. Nevertheless, when we sat there in the car two days ago, neither of us really wanted this break up. We both know that in our hearts we love each other, no matter what my Mom or anyone else says, and our love is pure. I know I can trust him and he knows he can trust me. Eventually, after several tears were shed, the world seemed to have gone to an end, the Apocalyps finally happened and the Jehovah witnesses got what they want, we decided to give it another try. Everything has been great ever since, we’ve been sending sweet messages to each other saying “love you” and such, something we hardly did before all of this…arguing started. I adore it when he sends me messages like that and then I feel like hugging him till death breaks us apart…or something along those lines. :D

Today, I went swimming with my niece and my little cousins. Two of them are still babies, so it was quite hard looking after them in the swimming pool but we managed nicely. They’re both boys and they differ only a month or three, so naturally they get along well and sometimes they’re really up to no good. My Mom and my grandmom claim I’m quite good with children since I can handle both of them nicely, but I think that’s just because they both adore me :P Swimming is nice though, especially since I had not done it in a while and I used to really enjoy it. I might restart my two-days-in-a-week-swimming-hobby again, but I’m not sure yet, I’ll have to think about it.

I’ll leave you guys with this. Have a nice day, enjoy watching the Order of the Phoenix if you have the time (a definate must-do) and help me remember I still have to buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Greetings from your future Queen of the World.
