All technical stuff and new WP Theme
High-School Drama, Homework, WP Themes, Website Related Add commentsAlright. So yes, I know I have abandoned you for about three/four days. That must be so hard on you and you probably all missed me to death and beyond (right…) but I did not really have anything out-of-the-ordinary to post. Anyhow, here’s a quick report of what has been going on in the fabulous life of Morgan the past few days.
Classes have started again, which sucks (obviously). My teachers found it necessary to already plan every possible test we will have for the next four months, which resulted in me having to write down a bazillion of dates for tests. Now, so you don’t get this wrong: I HATE tests. They always end up in me either making stupid mistakes, me being too lazy to study for more than five minutes or me being so anxious I get several nervous break-downs. Or, in case none of the above happens, I might actually end up with a decent result. This is however rare and therefore not very possible to happen. So the fact our principal decided that the maximum of three tests a week is too low, was a wonderful way to make my day. Apparently now there is a maximum of five, meaning we can have a test every single day. That just made my entire year go to hell.
Nah, not really. I’m just kidding. It sucks though that the number is up from three to five, but I don’t care about it that much. I have a life out of school too, you know?
So, between going to the library to find some books I am obligated to read and studying a french play, I was working on some new stuff for you guys. Yes, I’m sweet like that. Now, gimme a cookie.
Basically, I made a couple of things to keep everyone happy. First of all, no my visitor section is not yet up and yes, it might still take a while. I’m working on it: give me a break, please. Second of all, I wrote down (on paper) a quick To-Do-List of stuff I still have to fix around here at Zwinkyness. Surely, this might be boring to you or something you did not want to know, but I’ll let you know anyway because I’m mean like that (and somewhere in my mind I have the faint, probably dead-wrong belief some people actually might want to know about my future plans regarding world-domination…this website).
- Install the “Paged Comments” plugin (which turned out to be necessary after I posted my so-called “review websites review”-thingy)
- Accronym Replacer (necessary plugin because I’m too lazy to write them myself everytime)
- Install Footnotes plugins (I have always way too much to say)
- Code a guestbook (woohoo, getting into coding!)
- Possibly write a guestbook tutorial (Thought there weren’t enough WP Guestbook Tutorials out there yet)
- Upload my changelog.txt file
- Make sure my links are in two columns rather than one (although I’m not sure how to do this yet: any tips are welcomed!)
- Sort out my Keywords + develop a Keywords page featuring all those cute tags.
- Recheck my version of Spam Karma ’cause something seems wrong with it
- Find out why Bobby AAA Approval no longer applies to my website (it must be something I recently changed to the coding: I will fix it asap, because I’m really hating the fact it does no longer approve)
- Install new smilies (these seems rather yellow-ish when compared to the layout colour scheme)
- Find a subscribe plugin so users who do not like RSS can subscribe via email to this blog.
- Finally write my ‘personality profile’.
- Get down to the Visitor section.
Wow, that sure as hell is a lot. Understand that this might take me some time, since I’m going to be busier again now school has restarted. Anyhow, I was bored last weekend and last night and decided to code a WP Theme for my lovely visitors. But because of certain reasons (as in, the Visitor Section not being opened up yet) I’m offering it for download here. Well, technically seen not here. See, my clever mind knew people like it (or at least I do) when Themes come with a demo. But since I did not want to cover up my Administration panel with twenty or more useless themes (I might actually make that much themes…one day…) I quickly installed a new WP installation on a subdomain. Currently, the layout of this demosite (conveniently called WP TestBlog, since inspiration has not really been my best friend lately) is the design you can download. Although the little testblog might seem complicated to you now, it is in fact quite easy. On the main page, you can see examples of all kinds of things you can do using the design (blockquotes, images, lists) and when you go to the Designs category, you will find a post including the download link. I’m hoping to host more than one theme on the WP TestBlog one day so that’s why it all seems a little strangely ordered now. But don’t worry, it makes sense once your used to it (or once you have a brain such as yours truly).
So, a little about the Theme. You can obviously see it in action here. It is a fluid width, tableless design with no images and coded in valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.0. The theme conforms to all Web Consortium Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and on the WP TestBlog you can find an entire Accessibility Statement that you are free to copy when using this theme. The main colours used are black, white, blue, green, pink and red. I hope you like it ![]()

I love the new WP Theme! Looks really great. Also, I’m hoping you get to finish that to-do-list very soon because I’m also trying to figure out how to code a guestbook using WP as basic system.

Wow you sure did a lot of updates. I wish I had as much motivation, haha. The new theme looks great, and good luck with studying for all of those tests. I actually get very nervous when it comes to test taking as well.

The site looks great!!
And I’m sure you’ll do great with all the stuff you’ve got going on - good luck!

Oh but just in case you don’t already know, when commenting I get this error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 263624 bytes) in /home/elvenmys/public_html/x/wp-includes/cache.php on line 48
Of course, my comment went through anyway… but the site didn’t reload.

Thanks, Valerie! I’ll try to look into this (I have no idea what it is coming from) and fix it as soon as possible. Thank you very much for reporting it! I have a slight idea it might have something to do with my Spam Karma since that messed up too earlier tonight. Hmmm.

that list sure is long.. but i know you’ll accomplish those listed things some time..
I really have to validate my codes now (it’s soo not validddd) ;_; but i’m so lazy. Ughh.
3-5 quizzes? that’s crazy O_O

LOL, you sound exactly like me when it comes to studying for tests! XD Though it sucks that you can have a test every single day of the week! Ack, I would hate that soooooooo much!
Ohhh and I love your WP theme! Yay for text layouts! The colors remind me of my days in elementary school and how everything was easy back then, your layout makes me sad!

I went to an academic high school, so I pretty much saw a test everyday, along with papers and other things that got on my last nerve.
Good luck with all of the site stuff. I know how it can be wanting to put so much on your site with only little time to do so.

Not bad coding that fluid WP layout! Brownie points for you - good job there. =) Personally, I find that there are maybe a bit too many colors there - but who am I kidding; it’s your style and I think it works somehow. Congrats again!
Feh, tests can suck the life outta me - even though (I’m shamelessly admitting that) I’m what people dub a high achiever. 5 a week is asking for way too much (unless it’s the week for all the public exam papers.) Even so, I wish you good luck with school and all.

Uhm.. wow. Five tests per week is way too much. LOL. And to have to write down all those test dates, too. I would be overwhelmed. Good luck though, you seem optimistic about it.. (kind of, lol).
Also, I love how you marked out “world domination”. That’s incredibly cute.
I like the wordpress theme. You did a greaet job on it.. I like the choice of colors, too. I especially love the green and pink.. two of my favorite colors.
Anyways, after reading through your to-do list.. I am curious as to what Bobby AAA is.. and I’m googling it as soon as I hit submit!
